Common questions, honest answers.

How does MOTS-C work?

  • MOTS-C appears to influence cellular pathways involved in energy sensing, glucose metabolism, and the body’s response to metabolic stress. It is particularly studied for its relationship with mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptation.

  • How quickly might I notice results?

  • There is no established timeline for MOTS-C, and individual experiences vary. Factors such as baseline health, activity level, treatment goals, lifestyle, and protocol may influence response.

  • Can MOTS-C help with energy and exercise performance?

  • MOTS-C is being studied for its potential role in cellular energy utilization, exercise capacity, and metabolic adaptation. It should not be presented as a guaranteed performance enhancer, and human clinical evidence remains limited.

  • Is MOTS-C the same as a GLP-1 medication?

  • No. GLP-1–based medications and MOTS-C act through different biological pathways. MOTS-C is primarily being investigated for mitochondrial and metabolic signaling rather than the appetite-regulating mechanisms associated with GLP-1 therapies.

  • What’s the cancellation policy?

  • We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours will incur a 50% fee. If we arrive and are unable to reach you or access the appointment location after a brief grace period, the visit will be considered a no-show and may be charged up to the full service amount. Same-day bookings require a minimum of 4 hours’ notice for any changes. As each appointment is reserved exclusively for you — including provider time and travel — we appreciate your understanding.

  • Are there conditions that disqualify someone?

  • Candidacy should be determined through medical evaluation. Pregnancy or breastfeeding, significant medical conditions, active cancer, medication interactions, or other individual risk factors may affect whether treatment is appropriate.

  • Is MOTS-C FDA-approved?

  • No. MOTS-C is investigational and is not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease or for metabolic health, performance, weight loss, or anti-aging purposes.

  • How long does it take to notice increased pigmentation?

  • There is no established treatment timeline, and individual response can vary based on baseline skin tone, genetics, dose, and other factors. Changes in pigmentation may develop gradually rather than immediately.

  • Do I still need sunscreen while using Melanotan II?

  • Yes. Increased pigmentation does not eliminate the risk of UV-related skin damage or skin cancer. Broad-spectrum sunscreen and appropriate sun-protective measures remain important.

  • Do I need to tan or use UV exposure with Melanotan II?

  • Melanotan II can increase pigmentation, but intentional UV exposure carries established risks and should not be considered “safe” because Melanotan II is being used. We would avoid positioning tanning beds or additional UV exposure as part of the treatment protocol.

  • Can Melanotan II make freckles or moles darker?

  • It can increase pigmentation of existing freckles, moles, and other pigmented areas. Any new, rapidly changing, irregular, bleeding, itching, or otherwise concerning lesion should be evaluated by a qualified dermatology provider.

  • Candidacy requires individualized medical evaluation. A history of melanoma or other skin cancers, atypical/dysplastic nevi, concerning pigmented lesions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or certain medical conditions may make treatment inappropriate or warrant additional evaluation.

  • What are the possible side effects?

  • Reported effects can include nausea, flushing, decreased appetite, headache, fatigue, increased pigmentation of freckles or moles, and changes in libido or spontaneous erections. Because Melanotan II is investigational, its complete long-term safety profile has not been established.
